Глюк с центром управления убрался удалением corg.conf. Поставил опять полученный при помощи
gtf modeline (кстати есть ли разница в какой строчке секции Monitor он прописан?).
Из центра управления устанавливается широкий набор разверток, в том числе и 1440х900.
Причем при проверке все от 1600х1200 устанавливаются корректно (пусть и с воплем монитора об
отсутствии поддержки), а вместо 1440х900 выдается 1280х1024. В KDE тоже появляется весь ряд
разверток кроме 1440х900. В конфиге она есть, но толку-то. После долгих мытарств пришел к тому,
с чего начал.
