Я скачивал все тарболы, кроме 4х-мегабайтного пакета с иконками. Плюс еще библиотека dbh; в тарболах ее нет, но рпм для редхат-8 у меня установился без проблем.
Порядок сборки -- в release notes. В общем, первыми надо собирать библиотеки (libтра-та-та). Если что, configure скажет, что не находит bla-bla-bla.pc в пути для pkgconfig. Вот bla-bla-bla и будет именем библиотеки, которую надо собрать до того. Единственное, что надо еще сказать export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig.
