Доброго времени суток!
Проблема решена временно!!!
команда $/sbin/hdparm -E16 /dev/cdrom замедляет скорость только, до смены СD..
Coздание в каталоге /etc/sysconfig/harddisk , файла hdb c cодержимым:

| USE_DMA=1 |
| MULTIPLE_IO=16 |
| EIDE_32BIT=1 |
| LOOKAHEAD=1 |
| SPEED=16 |
----------------------
ТОЖЕ не дало должного (т.е. постоянного) результата. Linux грузится с
указанными параметрами, но как только я меняю диск, параметры сбрасываются.
Отсюда вопрос: как замедлить скорость НАВСЕГДА, чтобы она оставалась такой, как
я указал, даже после смены диска.
