Это не совсем так.
Все 4 пары используются в том случае, если Вы хотите (и имеете аппаратную возможность)
получить Full-duplex (т.е. до 20 мбит в секунду в обычной 10 мбитной сети).
Если достаточно полудуплекса (т.е. 10 мбит), то используют 2 пары.
Естественно можно использовать любые две пары, независимо
от цвета. А что касается цветов, описанных в стандартах,
то в домашней сети это никому соблюдать не требуется.
Резюме: лучше развести все 4 пары, во всяком случае, даже если
карточки не поддерживают Full-duplex, это им не помешает.
А при возможном последующем апгрейде карточек на фулдуплексные,
не придется переделывать еще и кабель.
