Как-то обламался gparted на половине действия. Сначала я убил в fdisk
раздел, чтобы освободить место для расширения раздела, лежащего перед
ним. Как увеличить раздел по средством fdisk я не нашёл (может плохо
искал или не понял). Потому пустил gparted из xterm вызванный рутом
через запуск xinit. Вот в нём-то я и запросил увеличить раздел и
файловую систему до конца свободного пространства. Раздел он мне
увеличил, а файловую систему нет. Причём вывалился с какой-то
невразумительной ошибкой.
После этого fdisk мне показал, что раздел существует и расширен на всю
свободную область. Но mount при этом ругался на то, что данный девайс
отсутствует (/dev/hda9). После перезагрузки раздел нормально
монтировался, но файловая система оказалась прежнего размера, т.е. на
половину увеличенного раздела. Отмонтировав, прогнав fsck -f /dev/hda9
и resize2fs /dev/hda я получил таки то, чего добивался. Контрольная
перезагрузка прошла нормально, и я вернул загрузку runlevel 5.
Вот такие приключения. Расширял я раздел для /home.
