Лучше в домашнем каталоге создай:
~/packages/{build,rpms,sources,specs,srpms,tmp}
И положи файлик ~/.rpmmacros приблизительно следующего содержания:
%packager Vasja Pupkin <vasja_pupkin@altlinux.ru>
%distribution ALT Linux
%vendor ALT Linux Team
%_gpg_name Vasja Pupkin
%_topdir %(echo $HOME)/packages
%_builddir %_topdir/build
%_sourcedir %_topdir/sources
%_specdir %_topdir/specs
%_rpmdir %_topdir/rpms
%_srcrpmdir %_topdir/srpms
