Лучше ставить из тарбала, как тут и пишут.
У меня по началу так-же были проблемы с 3Д.
Так ведь дрова от NVIDIA OpenGl кофликтуют с установленными в системе.
Когда создадите свой RPM и установите драйвера, инсталлер вас об этом
предупредит и все правильно настроит (кое-что переименует). Уже наверное
с неделю работаю и тичего.
На VIA пока не проверял. Текущая конфигурация - Chaintech На i815 +
Сeleron на 100 МГц шине - 650 Мгц.
