В своей rescue-системе:
fdisk /dev/hda
Далее, в ответ на подсказку, ввести букву "p". Получите список
разделов с указанием файловых систем.
Видимо, Ваш утерянный "/" --- на одном из разделов с файловой системой
"reiserfs", "ext2" или "ext3".
Монтировать их куда-нибудь в "/mnt/tmp" по очереди и смотреть. Когда
найдете, "chroot /mnt/tmp".
Далее "lilo" или там "grub", как обычно, как привыкли.
