Скорее всего именно аппаратная проблема. На старых сканерах может просто
высыхать смазка на направляющих - там простые бронзовые втулки в
качестве подшипника. Симптомы очень похожи.
Разобрать, протереть от остатков старой смазки. Смазать заново. Заодно
протереть стекло с внутренней стороны.
