Вы его с apmd не путаете? Вообще-то я только что прочел, что
поддержка acpi более-менее с ядра 2.4.10...

Я сталкивался (последний раз при сборке драйверов для HSFi
MiniPCI момеда:), что происходят ошибки с определением версии
ядра, поиском заголовков и т.д, похоже, из-за того, что неверно
обрабатываются ссылки. Приходится искать все места, где нужные
пути "вычисляются" и ручками вбивать верные, что неэлегантно и,
по меньшей мере, не вполне переносимо:)
