Если этот CD-ROM действительно такой злосчастный и проблема в
нем, то почему же под Windows он работает? Это же не winmodem или
winprinter какой нибудь.
Именно из-за его работы в Windows меня и терзают смутные сомнения
насчет того, что дело тут в ядре, или в драйвере этого CD-ROM под
Линукс. Вот потому то я и стал посматривать в сторону смены ядра на
2.2.19, там вроде бы что-то с драйвером IDE поправляли...
К сожалению в ядрах я полный чайник, потому и уповаю на то, что
кто-нибудь из знающих обратит на меня свое благосклонное внимание и
либо посоветует что делать, либо объяснит, что я неправ и
ядро/драйвер тут ни при чем.
