У свеже созданного пользователя в p7/kde4 нет этих каталогов.
Удалил их и всё нормально заработало.
Серж, спасибо за подсказку.
P.S.: кто б напомнил аплет для 4-х кед, показывающий нажаты ли NumLock,
CapsLock ...
