Не знаю, поможет или нет, но у меня был опыт борьбы с CD-ROM LG, IDE,
52x. Обнаружилась странная вещь: этот драйв категорически не смог
работать под Linux (Mandrake RE 7.0) в положении master (будучи как
один на канале, так и в связке с винтом). Под виндами нормально
работал в любом положении, под Linux - ни в какую. Причём при втыкании
винта на тот же канал IDE винт через раз под Linux просто пропадал (не
определялся при старте). В slave работает нормально, безо всяких
проблем. Попробуйте переткнуть джампер.
