а не подскажет кто чем эти пакеты отличаются. В чем преимущество одного или
другого?
Просто решил наладить синхронизацию времени и стал копаться в пакетах. Обнаружил
что их и не один.

xntp3 - это NTP Version 3
ntp - это NTP Version 4
Поскольку xntp3 больше не развивается, то в дистрибутивы мы его включать,
скорее всего, больше не будем; ntp с ним совместим (сверху вниз, см.
документацию), его должно быть вполне достаточно.
