Я дико извиняюсь, что побеспокоил общественность своим чайниковским
вопросом, но я
так был заморрочен проблемой с внутренним зипом, что прописав сдром как
ide-scsi не
посмотрел и оставил ссылку на /dev/cdrom2 без изменений (/dev/hdb). Как
только я до этого
допер - переправил на /dev/scd1 и все заработало.

У меня сейчас CD-RW и CD-ROM через эмулятор SCSI общаются. И там, и там
все
читается. Так что причину надо искать... Вопрос: у вас IDE-CDROM
запущен?
