Уже ответил :-)
А я у себя сбойную ситуацию испортил: перезагрузился.
Теперь всё работает и ntpd и ntpdate и одновременно и раздельно.
отсюда другие вопросы:
Кто из них сидит с чруте?
Почему не работал ntpdate? не мог достучаться до файла часов? Жалко
strace не додумался запустить :-(
Совместная работа без конфликта -- это фича или баг?
И когда в 5.х приползёт обновлённая версия ntpdate?
На днях по-наблюдаю работу этих утилит. Если обнаружится сбой -- буду
дальше копать.
