Разъясню ситуацию. Все правильно, на windows машине стоит сервер
Firebird и там же лежит база. Теперь я допер что шара не нужна для
подключения клиентов, она используется для резервного копирования. А
клиентские приложения, используемые при подключении к базе, преобразуют
вид \\ip\c$\DB\ в вид ip:C:\DB. Т.е. если прописать как надо все
заработает и без шары. Вот такой каламбур получился.
