ИМХО: Чертовски неудобно.
В людях живет гвоздиками прибитая привычка, что панелька должна быть
снизу и сверху. Ага, может оно и было разумно во времена мониторов 4:3.
Однако, забавно видеть, как имея широкий монитор лепят по две панели
снизу-сверху (а в Виндовз одна, но зато двух-трех-этажная), оставляя
рабочее пространство даже не 16:9, а еще более вытянутое. При этом
веб-страницы обычно вытянуты вверх, а не вширь, редакторы текстов тоже
выше, чем шире. И разве что медиа-редакторы с лентой кадров/фреймов
требуют экрана вширь.
К счастью, дизайнеры МС уже догадались, что надо что-то менять. Панели
начинают выносить вбок, и у окон убирать полоску заголовка, точнее,
забивать ее полезными кнопками (см. ribbon-интерфейс офиса, например).
Еще пару лет, и откажутся от таскбара в современном виде :)
Но когда это же самое повторяют в более гибких интерфейсах... :(
