Весной в первый раз в жизни установила ALTLinux Junior. Видеокарта у
того ПK была Nvidia GeForce 8* (то ли 8600, то ли 8800). Не запомнила
потому, что встало без проблем. Порадовалась четкости изображения.
Машину пришлось отдать, сейчас у меня другой ПК с картой Nvidia GeForce
9600.
Установила ALTLinux Junior. Картинка заметно хуже. Автоматически
установился драйвер vesa. При попытке проверить графический режим с
драйвером nvidia появляется заставка Nvidia и всё -- ни на какие
телодвижения компьютер не реагирует, кроме как на нажатие кнопки
перезагрузки на системном блоке.
Посмотрела в гугле и в рассылке community на altlinux.org. Из того, что
нашла, поняла: вручную пытаться установить драйвер -- занятие не для
новичков. Ядро 2.6.18. Не знаю, права ли я, если нет -- поправьте. На
сайте nvidia есть драйвер Linux Display Driver - x86 версия:173.14.12.
Где-то читала, что после установки этого драйвера ломается xorg.conf. В
сизифе и бранче 4.1 (как я поняла) есть версия 173.14.12-alt46.M41.1.
Если попытаться обновить ядро из бранча (4.0 или 4.1?), а потом обновить
установленные пакеты -- заработает? Или я напрасно надеюсь?
Во времени ограничена, а на обновление всех пакетов уйдет не один час.
Есть ещё варианты? Может есть ссылка с более подробным алгоритмом
