По поводу этого самого version.h
Сталкивался. Давно. Многое забылось. И скорее для себя самого написал
статью:

Должно помочь :) Мне тогда помогло.
Каталог там правильнее должен быть /usr/src а не ~/Documents
Но я это принципиально так втиснул, показав, что неважно в каком
каталоге будут происходить действа.
