А какой дистрибутив-то хоть? Я, кажется, упустил.
Поправьте руками вместо vesa на radeonhd в файле /etc/X11/xorg.conf и
перезапустите графику - Ctrl+Alt+BackSpace. Если не запустится почему-то
и вылетит в консоль - верните обратно vesa и отчитайтесь сюда.
Если заработает - значит бага в альтераторе?
