Я бы сказал, что konqueror и mc в некоторых случаях не коррелируют.
Для сравнения, попробуйте загрузиться из ДОС и зайти на раздел с
окошками... многого привычного не увидите.
Как правильно заметили ранее, мастер (как и сама графическая оболочка)
выполняет за Вас множество действий. И они для Вас скрыты.
У mc тоже есть соответствующие возможности: <F9> - Left | Right - Ftp
Link | Shell link ( у дистрибутива коллег был замечен SMB Link).
Для доступа к расшаренным ресурсам окошек, следует использовать SMB.
Почитайте про: "монтирование SMB linux", "smbmount", "smbclient".
П.С. Результат работы использованного Вами мастера будет доступен
_только в KDE_!.
