Короче, поскольку ситуация стала критической, я просто всё забэкапил и
снёс систему, пережившую переезд на три новых компа и два новых харда,
местами про себя говорящую, что она Alt Master 2.2 ;) и быстро поставил
текущий бранч - всё зажило и задышало. Видно при многочисленных
апгрейдах что-то где-то сломалось, а разобраться что, не было времени.
А потом залил поверх старые /etc,/home и /var.
На тошибе (какой-то древний Satellite, наклейки внизу всё стерлись и
узнать что это нельзя :) с системным ALI чипсетом и трайдентом в роли
видео поднялось и завелось всё, включая вайфай и звук. 3D там конечно
нет, но и не надо.
Остался невыясненным вопрос, можно ли управлять тактовой частотой
процессора ( сейчас он постоянно на максимуме )
