Для других версий ядер как рекомендовали на linmodems.org (буквально
несколько дней назад проходило обсуждение) надо в модуле slab.c в функции
static int kmem_cache_grow (kmem cache t * cachep, int flags)
Закомментировать строки
if (flags & ~(SLAB DMA|SLAB LEVEL MASK|SLAB NO GROW))
BUG();
if (flags & SLAB NO GROW)
return 0;
Также было написано следующее:

Motorola SM56 internal modem
there is small probelm the comlies kernel does not power off's automatically
but we have to switch off our system
it just gives the message "power down" like Unix
Что как я понял (в английском слаб) вызывает какие-то проблемы с
выключением питания?
Вопрос на сколько корректны подобные изменения в ядре и как они влияют
на стабильность.
