У меня недостаточно знаний в этой области и опытов "всерьез" нет
времени ставить.
Но то что мне показалось в результате "дерганий" своего HP iPAQ 6815
и альтовского SynCE - имеющийся модуль rndis не поддерживает
протокол авторизации, используемый в WM 5 для синхронизации.
Как говорят на сайте проекта:

Нужен модуль synce-usb-rndis-lite и патч к ядру для него.
В альте какой-то rndis есть, но либо не той версии, либо нет патча
на ядро.

Можно еще выключить шифрование в реестре WM5, но как-то это неудобно...
