Теоретически, благодаря масштабируемости шрифтов metafont, из исходника
можно сгенерировать шрифт любого размера. Практически иногда встречаются
косяки, когда шрифт нормально создаётся только для какого-то диапазона
размеров, вне которого начинаются проблемы с арифметикой (вроде
извлечения квадратного корня из отрицательного числа). У меня такое
всплывало в emTeX'е + шрифты семейства lhcyr, многие из которых не
хотели уменьшаться более, чем в 2 раза. Здесь проблема несколько иного
толка: описания самих шрифтов, скорее всего, составлены корректно, но
механизм генерации *принципиально* не позволяет получить шрифт более 40
пунктов.

Я пробовал со стандартными cm-super. Русский есть, но только до 40
пунктов включительно.
