У меня совершенно аналогичная ситуация: пока подобрал удовлетворительные
шрифты для emacs, сломались шрифты в thunderbird ;-(. Я так понимаю,
выход один -- тщательно подбирать шрифты до тех пор, пока не заработает.
Вот, сейчас воюю с GTKtalog... Если получится, о результатах доложу.
Локаль какая? У меня сейчас UTF-8, подозреваю, от этого все проблемы...
