А что мешает использовать под своп файл файловой системы?
Примерно так:
1. Создаем файл.
2.С помощью dd - делаем его нужного размера (dd if=/dev/zero
of=<наш файл> count=0xнужное количество мегабайт)
3. mkswap <наш файл>
4. swapon <наш файл>
Радуемся жизни.
При нужде изменение размера - не проблема.
