Вообще USB-клава в linux вещь не самая удобная:
- не помню работает ли она в Lilo (может помочь какой-нибудь
"USB legacy support" в BIOS)
- до загрузки модулей usb работать не будет, в итоге в случае
потребности в загрузке с чем-нибудь типа init=/bin/sh останетесь
без клавы.

Нехватает подробностей о железе и скорее с этим в hardware@
В случае встроенной видюхи может помочь параметр загрузки
mem=<сколько там у Вас памяти в мегабайтах>M
