Я думаю, вы понимаете, что как раз авторам для появления такого вот
drag-n-drop достаточно было воспользоваться стандартным диалогом
открытия файлов :)

С файлами-то чем плохо?

А это недосмотр. Скорее всего, авторы пользуются продвинутым файловым
менеджером, через который и добавляют каталоги в плейлист.
