man domainname гласит, что:
domainname - show or set the system's NIS/YP domain name
Это совсем не DNS, в отличие от dnsdomainname, упомянутого в той же
man-странице. Можно ещё посмотреть на список интересных опций в выводе
hostname --help (я не издеваюсь, сам только что о них узнал -- писать
ответы в рассылку для себя же полезно).
