ИМХО в манах/доках нет советов класть файл с паролями в /etc/httpd/conf
Я как второй человек, попавший на грабли, рассуждал по поводу паролей так:
я подключаю новую функциональность к httpd так: пишу отдельный conf, в
httpd.conf делаю Include conf/feature1.conf
Если feature1 должна быть защищена паролем, то я куда-то должен положить
файл паролей. Куда? А положу-ка я его рядом с feature1.conf! Вроде бы
логично, но вот такая логика и привела к проблемам.
Собственно, возникают-то они только у тех, кто делает переход с 2.2 на 2.4
Мне кажется, откатывать ничего не надо, максимум сделать README.ALT
