Имхо драйвера для ALT Linux лучше взять у ALT Linux (www.altlinux.ru)

rpm -qa|grep xfree86
и посмотреть какой у вас :)

Что за rpm - ? rpm скаченный с ati у вас скорее всего не встанет :)
Зависимости и все такое - опять же повторюсь - сходите на
www.altlinux.ru и найдите там catalist для вашего дисторибутива
(кстати вопрос к имеющим - а что? в Master 2.2 нет catalyst?)
