Судя по моему опыту общения с SOHO, оно почти полностью совместимо...
gcc точно ставится...
PS: Только не забывайте тогда еще и про апдейты к Compact.

Я имею ввиду, что если вы ставите пакет из Compact, то проверьте, нет ли
к нему обновления в updates.
А так, SOHO имеет некоторые пакеты более новых версий(например postfix).
