Я тоже затрахался с такой проблемой.
Что-то по умолчанке Compact с нетбиосом не дружит, и это не есть ГУД.
Используй LinNeighborhood, есть в Сизифе.
Правда и он у меня потом съехал сам по себе, и щас вообще не пашет :(
Врут всё, то что линукс не глючит.
Если брать его как десктоп, то получаешь очень занимательную головоломку
;), т.к. по умолчанию больше половины настроено из рук вон плохо...
