работает это через initrd.
Как я делал(у меня другой контроллер, но тоже FastTrack):
1) Ставишь ide винт в машину - туда ставишь линукс(в нужной конфигурации)
2) собраешь драйвер и загружаешь - получаешь, например, - /dev/sda
3) fdisk /dev/sda - разбиваешь как надо.
4) монтируешь raid и переписываешь на него систему.
5) собирешь собственное ядро и драйвер к нему(с поддержкой scsi,
модулей и ram - дисков)
6) создаешь initrd-диск при помощи манов и mkinitrd
7) чрутишся на raid и конфигуришь lilo.
8) вытаскиваем ide и грузимся с raid
Последовательность может быть иная, но принцип все равно будет тот же.
Хотя, возможно, есть и другие пути. Но я делал именно так.
