У меня деятельность fetchmail протоколируется (в свой лог, из-за
проблем с провайдером/последней милей).
И вот, после перехода на Compact 2.3, стали обнаруживать в начале лога
каждого запуска fetchmail такие вот сообщения:

fetchmail: reading message my_name@pop.mtu.ru:1 of 6 (3096 octets)
..fetchmail: SMTP connect to localhost failed
fetchmail: can't raise the listener; falling back to /usr/sbin/sendmail
-i %T.fetchmail: flushed
fetchmail: reading message my_name@pop.mtu.ru:2 of 6 (41379 octets)
........................................fetchmail: flushed
=====================================================================
Остальные письма считываются нормально.
Даже с учетом того, что счтываются они порциями по 20 или менее (опция:
-e 20).
Долго просыпается локальный SMTP-демон?
