|А почему? Это ж жутко неудобно. Вот настроил я себе сейчас нормальную
|графическую морду у загрузчика. Всё путём. Буду менять ядро, initrd
изменится,
|при регенерации _вдруг_ появится сплэш на загрузке, который мне даром
|не нужен. И буду я опять сносить пакеты, делать mkinitrd и возвращать всё
|обратно. Или просто тупо скопирую /boot/splash/Master/message куда-нибудь
|в /boot и снесу пакеты, чтобы ничего не ломалось. Зачем эти сложности?

У меня при обновлении ничего не появляется заново. Достаточно единожды
отключить его использование в /etc/sysconfig/bootsplash и перегенерить
initrd.
|Кстати, а то, что независимо от chkconfig после перезагрузки сервис
splash всегда
|оказывается started, это тоже фича?

Ну вообще то да. Если это не включать по умолчанию, то пользователи не
узнают об этой "красоте".
