После (понимаю, что не обязательно - вследствии, но...) окончания
моей борьбы за полноценное (включая 3D) привинчивание новейшей видюхи
ASUSTek Radeon 9200 к сабжу обнаружилось, что русский закрякозябрился в
некоторых приложениях.
Прежде всего я заметил это в gkrellm - поначалу (до борьбы) все
смотрелось правильно. Причем крякозябры появились именно на рабочей
(индикаторной) панели, в окнах настройки нормальный русский текст. Также
вылезли крякозябры при запуске (первом) Gimp-а (но это проделал только
после укрощения Radeon-а).
Самое же страшное - в OpenOffice при наборе текста виден только
латинский текст, русский не виден вообще. По крайней мере при набивке
"по умолчанию" - шрифтом Times. Изыскание показало, что оба вида текста
видны только при задании шрифта Nimbus Sans L: при этом, в случае
задания шрифта Avant Garde Gothic виден только русский текст (ну да,
конечно, Россия - родина готики).
На какую же мозолю Compact-а я умудрился наступить, что он мне так
страшно отомстил?
Да, на всякий случай я провел сугубо силовую (--replace[files/pkgs])
переустановку (rpm -ihv) всех пакетов содержащих font в названии. Без
толку.
