Отключил его и строка "Synchronizing with time server" при загрузке исчезла.
Но время все равно при перезагрузке системы возвращается на старое.
Во как :-( ?!
Не знаю куда и копать дальше.
А вообще зачем нужен демон ntpd, кроме как синхронизации времени
(правда, какого с каким)?
