Буквально на днях на этой матери поднимал звук. sndconfig послал меня
кудзе, та вообще ничего не нашла. Тогда я поставил ALSA и сделал
modprobe snd-via82xx. Все нормально.
А теперь по порядку.
Ставим alsa24-up, alsa2-utils, libalsa2
Пишем в /etc/modules.conf

above snd-via82xx snd-pcm-oss
above snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-slot-0 snd-via82xx
--------------------------->8---------
Запускаем от рута alsamixer и включаем и поднимаем уровни звука. Делаем
alsactl store. Дальше несколько вариантов. Либо в /etc/rc.local написать

modprobe snd-via82xx
alsactl restore
-------------->8---------
В этом случае один раз выставленные уровни миксера будут
восстанавливаться при загрузке, но изменения запоминаться не будут. Либо
надо переписывать /etc/rc.d/init.d/sound, чтобы он умел с алсой
работать. А это уже не ко мне, т.к. то, как я это сделал, лучше не делать.
