Может, мне повезло, но 4х гиговый дятел у меня в домашнем компе без проблем
работает уже года 2, как минимум. За более короткое время успел рассыпаться
quantum fireball не помню точно какой.

Не выдержал, тоже напишу. У меня дома IBM DTLA 307030 уже работает
третий год и тьфу-тьфу-тьфу: ничегошеньки плохого не имеется.
