Вы имеете ввиду это:
dmesg | grep floppy?
Вывод таков:
inserting floppy driver for 2.4.20-alt7-up
end_request: I/O error, dev 02:00 (floppy), sector 0

Не понимаю, что то за эрроры, но дискета на некоторых машинах работает.
А дисковод исправен.
