Ну я уже изрядно живу на:
[maga@home maga]$ uname -a
Linux home 2.4.20-mgd1-up #1 Sun May 18 19:29:36 MSD 2003 i686 unknown
unknown GNU/Linux
собрано gcc3.2 под athlon.
т.е. месяц.

зря я это сделал...
PCTEL собрал, а грузится он отказался, говорит собирали меня с gcc
версии 2, а ядро с версией 3
NVIDIA 4363 тоже собрал, но грузить не пробовал, скорее всего тоже самое
select-gcc 3.2 при сборке всего этого добра не помогает
