Ну так проверьте в конфиге какая скорость порта выставлена,
наверняка низкая.

Ручками решабельно путем перебивки локализационных пременных для
root'а. А вообще это сделано преднамеренно, для root'а, который
должен использоваться только в административных целях,
специально прописана локаль C а не какая то другая национальная.
Работайте от пользователя и все будет порусски :-)
