Понятно, что делает ntpdate когда говорит, что "step".
А вот когда говорит, что "adjust"?
Запускаю adjtimex -p и вижу, что ни tick ни frequency ничуть не
изменились.
Так что - наличествует еще какой-то способ подстраивать системные часы?
Или глядя на результаты ntpdate (размер adjust) следует вручную
подгонять frequency через adjtimex?
Сомнительно, как-то...

Насколько я понимаю, система подстраивает часы сама, замечая,
на сколько вы периодически подводите часы...
