Ничего не трогайте дефалтном в smb.conf
поднимите сервис
service smb start
заведите юзера
smbpasswd -a <username>
после чего проверьте
smbmount //localhost/<username> /mnt/disk -o username=<username>
спросят пароль - введите его.
Получите по samba свой хоумник.
Если все работает - можете сконфигурить и другие шары.
Прочтите доки по Самбе в каталоге /usr/share/doc/samba*
