Попробуйте такой вариант. В Х настраивается использование
одной русской раскладки. Как индикатор раскладок xxkb. Далее
на удобные клав. комбинации завешивается команда setxkbmap
"что нужно". Получаете работу с любым количеством раскладок.
Индикацию состояния группы выбраной раскладки. Отсутствие
циклических переключений. Можете годами не пользоваться
какими-то из них.
