Так, тут все пучком....
А Вы настройки KDE в плане клавиатуры трогали?? Под другими
виндоуменеджерами как фонты выглядят?
А плиз еще вывод команды:
cat /etc/sysconfig/keyboard
и если у Вас lilo то вывод команд:
cat /etc/lilo.conf | grep keytable
ls /boot/*klt
