confgure --help я читать умею :)
По крайней мере 0.18pre5 gcc 2.96 из моего дистрибутива не собирался,
вернее собирался, но падал прямо после попытки чего-нибудь проиграть...
правда сейчас пользуюсь версией из cvs... она может уже и 2.96
собирается, но его у меня уже нет...
